Radio Cassette Sanyo

This is a beautiful radio cassette used in the 80s; people had one for listening music and news. In some cases people liked buying radios although the TV was more expensive than radios. People used cassette when they wanted to record any special radio program.  The best of radio was that they were portable when people wanted to carry them to other places and they use battery instead of electricity. Radios were important because people could realized about all things around them. Sometimes people wanted to dance and the radio was a good form to listen to music as an example disco music “a typical example of the 80s.” Radio become so popular at that time.

A good way to   entertain was the use of radio and one of the most important examples of radio programs were the radio sop opera which became so common between people that did not have TV. A radio sop opera was a story in which incentivized people imagination and was a escape  for daily routines, and at the same time people could record their favorite sop operas through  the usage of record radio as the cassette Sanyo.  People usually spent a lot of time listening those amusing programs.

Education In Honduras of 80's.

By Sandra Casco
Why do we talk about the education of the 80's?
Because I think It's important we know the kind of education that teachers taught at school and high school at those times, and how the courses were distributed.

Well,  I am going to talk about my investigation. I interviewed some people who studied in 80's. Domitila Reyes was first person who I interviewed. She is my mom and She is fifty years old. She is housewife and she studied at Jose Cecilio del Valle school in Soledad, El Paraiso town. She told me about her childhood in the school. She said that "The teachers were more stricts but also They were very responsable with their work". "When I was 8 years old I must have done the meat  before I went to the school".
Beforehand there were two days trip, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. The uniform was not an obligation for students because the children's parents didn't have money for buy new uniforms for them.

In Honduras, the education system has some years of delay of education, compared with others countries. The educative regimen that our country had, it is totally obsolet, It declined the educative process because there were some teachers followed a strict process of teaching where students only are sat on a chair and writing what a teacher wrote on the board. Students couldn't express freely their opinion, they didn't have right to speak. The teaching methods were not adequate for good learning of the students, so they had to memorize everything and obligated to repeat when the teacher asked about any topic, but also there were excellent teachers who were worried for learning of their students.

In the decade of the 80's there were a lot of unlettered people . This people did not have access to public
education, because they were very poor. They didn't have money for buy notebooks,
uniforms, shoes, etc. The schools were ubicated away in large distances. Public transportation was expensive for them. And when they had the opportunity to transport to other place, there was just a few little buses. These are the reasons why many people could not study in the decades of 80's.

Music of 80's

By Neidy Guzman

Honduras sometimes don't appreciate our own culture and things that we can create, but in this time I want to talk about  The music that Honduras had in the 80's. Sicerely I didn't know about the music that my parents listened or my uncles liked, but I talked with my family and discovered a Honduras rock band that were successful in the 80's, KHAOS FORGED IN ROCK. during the early 1980’s in the Heart of the City of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, KHAOS Broke Traditional Local Music Paradigms by Becoming the first Honduran group to Compose and Record Original Spanish rock music and Perform According to its Own Unique. The Most Popular Tunes are: “Roleando”, “En Llamas”, and “En las Garras del Diablo”.
These legendary songs are still very popular today within Honduras. It is very important to know the things that we can create, and show support to Honduran artist. Everybody should imagine incredible things and make come true that dreams.

The most important coin in the 80's.

This little thing was very important in the 80’s here in Honduras. This coin had so much power when my parents were young, they told me that when they wanted to travel to college or a friend’s house they needed to pay with this little coin. But nowadays this coin lost it value and nobody uses anymore, and I think that this is like a historic relic. My mom has a bracelet made only with coins and this coin is included, for my mom this is a treasure from my grandpa and I like the way my mom conserved this amazing gem. It is incredible how our habits of take care of our culture lost it value and tell me old lady but I like to remember the things that we had and we created.

Fashion in the 80’s

The 80’s fashion was all about color, size, and experimentation. Dresses worn with wide or thin belts, leather gloves, and a lot of colorful accessories. Hair was typically big, curly, bouffant and heavily styled. In the 80's USA music was very popular in latin america and Honduras was no the exception, pop, rock, punk and new wave music groups influenced mainstream male and female fashion.

Fashion in women

One person who proved to be very influential to female fashions in 80’S was Madonna. All the girls in Honduras and around the world wanted to dress and look like her.  Skirts worn over leggings, necklaces, rubber bracelets, fishnet gloves, hairbows, long layered strings of beads, bleached, untidy hair with dark roots, headbands, and lace ribbons, Short, tight Lycra or leather miniskirts and tubular dresses were popularized by Madonna. The permanent weave-or "perm"was also popular in that time thanks to the trend of big hair.

Fashion in men

In the other hand men’s fashion included polo-neck shirts, sports jerseys, sweaters, boots, converse shoes, tenis,  straight-leg jeans, leather or jean jackets. Around this time it became acceptable for men to wear sports coats and slacks to places that previously required a suit. Hairstyles included hair with shiny look and greater volume for men.

World cup 1982

In 1982 Honduras enjoy the participation of our national football team in the world cup in Spain. The “primitivos” Maradiaga, the Yearwood, Villegas, Bulnes, Betancourt, Costly, “Macho” Figueroa and others  made Honduras feel proud. People said that Honduras was the best team in E group, and with a gol of  “Pecho” Zelaya Honduras for one moment  had the advantage over Spain, but Spain tied so Honduras couldn't pass to the second round. Even though that they lost, they lost with dignity representing Honduras.
